He crawled on his belly through the last part of the woods to check on his things. The small explosions inside of his head had been quiet for a little while, letting him look around and enjoy something. He had even gotten a girl close enough to him so that he could smell the lemony fragrance coming off of her shoulders. She was nice and would have been perfect but he didn't need anyone yet. It made him feel better, stronger, to watch her go. He was in control, he thought, as small crackles sounded in his ears, making popping noises.

“Fuck you!” he screamed back. The light slammed into his head, making a bright flash of light in front of his eyes as his body crumpled and landed in a quiet heap on the ground. In control, in control, it whispered in his ears.
